Drama and Arts in education play a significant role in the education process.Now a days art and drama are very important in education field.We know that every child has his /her perception to look the things.By implementing art and drama in classroom learning, it always has effective teaching-learning.Art education includes music, dance,playing instruments,creative writing,visual and media,theatre,drawing, painting etc.While drama includes role play, storytelling, enacting,dialogue delivery etc.There’s no doubt that the arts are fun for kids. Diving into those finger paints and making a beautiful picture to hang on the fridge is awesome. Acting in a play is exhilarating. But the arts also help kids develop on many fundamental levels.The performing arts encourages children to explore their emotions, expand their imagination and helps them develop their own, unique voice. Each discipline of music, dance and drama engage a child’s brain, body and emotions in different ways to encourage their confidence and find joy in self-expression.
Through drama and art we can make other subjects more interesting for learners.We can use art and drama in various subjects in teaching.For example in teaching mathematics mathematical pattern can be demonstrated and explored through physical movement and dance.Pupils are more likely to remember geometric shapes if they have made them with their material with creativity and innovation.We can also use drama in science and technology.A journey through the body gives great potential for storytelling and drama.Technology can help to extend and develop drama activities through the use of multimedia such as photography video animation and sound recording.It is found that students who had been exposed to drama activities had better results than those who had learned to use the traditional method.
Art and Drama helps the learners to improve their creativity, to improve their academic performance, helps in motor skills,improve their confidence, helps in visual learning etc.In addition, it was observed that drama can create a positive learning environment in the classroom, and can increase social interaction and self-esteem.Teaching using the drama method and creating a link to everyday life can help students gain a better understanding.
So to conclude we can observe that art and drama is very much important now a days in education.
